The Best Time to Post on LinkedIn (And Why It's Not the Whole Story)

Everyone wants the magic hour. Post at 8:47am on a Tuesday and watch the algorithm hand you gold, right?

Tuesday through Thursday, mid-morning, roughly 8 to 10am, tends to perform best for most industries. That's when people are at their desks, coffee in hand, scrolling before the day gets away from them.

That's the answer. Now here's the part nobody wants to tell you.

Timing gets you seen. It doesn't get you read.

You could post at the exact "perfect" moment and still watch your post sink without a trace, because timing only controls who's scrolling past when you hit publish. It has zero control over whether they stop.

What about the rest of the week?

Tuesday through Thursday tend to get the most traffic, so if you're only posting once a week, that's your best bet. But don't read that as "the other four days don't count." Here's a fuller picture:

  • Monday: 10am-12pm. People are still digging out from the weekend inbox pileup, so give it a little time before you post.

  • Friday: 10-11am. Attention's already drifting toward the weekend, so late morning beats early.

  • Saturday: 10am-1pm. Lower overall volume, but people are scrolling more leisurely, not rushing through a work day.

  • Sunday: 7-9pm evenings see a small bump, as people catch up before the week starts.

The real mistake isn't picking the "wrong" day. It's only picking one day, ever.

What Stops the Scroll?

  • A hook that earns the next line. Your first sentence has one job: grab attention. That's it. If it doesn't do that, the perfect posting time won't save you.

  • Showing up human. More and more LinkedIn content sounds like it came from the same AI template, because a lot of it did. The posts that stop people are the ones with a real opinion, a specific detail, an actual voice behind them.

  • Consistency, not perfection. One flawless post a month loses every time to a decent post twice a week. LinkedIn rewards rhythm. Show up regularly and the algorithm starts trusting you enough to show your stuff to more people.

So yes, lean into Tuesday through Thursday mornings if you want to optimize for timing. But if your post isn't stopping the scroll, the best time slot in the world won't fix that. And no, that doesn't mean the other four days are dead zones. Consistency still beats the perfect slot every time.

Not sure if your posts are actually landing?

That's a harder question to answer honestly on your own, since it's tough to see your own blind spots. Our free LinkedIn Post Analyzer is your new best friend. Drop in your post, and it tells you what's working, what's not, and how AI-ish it sounds.

If you want an outside read on what's working, what's not, and where the real opportunity is, that's exactly the kind of thing we dig into with clients through our LinkedIn services. Sometimes it's a quick fix. Sometimes it's a whole strategy shift. Either way, worth a conversation if you're ready to stop guessing. Book a call.
